Anaheim, CA — November 8, 2024. Edward James Olmos will present the Olmos Award on behalf of the American Limb Presentation Society (ALPS) together with David G. Armstrong, DPM, MD, PhD, shining a pivotal and deserved spotlight on the necessity of health equity in limb preservation. The award presentation will take place at the JW Marriott Anaheim, CA, during the 24th edition of the Interdisciplinary Diabetic Foot Conference (DFCon), the most premier diabetic foot conference in North America.

Push back the clock

Each year at DFCon, ALPS gathers influential speakers and delivers outstanding scientific content related to limb preservation with a focus on diabetic feet. This three-day conference allows the best in their field to come together, learn from each other and delve into the most recent technological advancements.

“You have to understand every 20 seconds, somewhere around the world someone loses their leg because of diabetes. And so it is our mission is to push back the clock and eliminate preventable amputations,” Dr. Armstrong, ALPS Founding President explains.

New Health Equity and Advocacy Committee will create awareness

The ALPS Health Equity and Advocacy Committee is dedicated to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion within the field of limb preservation. With their first official committee meeting at DFCon 2024, they look forward to making meaningful strides toward these goals. Taking their first action at DFCon, the committee will record educational videos tailored for diverse communities, aiming to spread awareness around limb preservation and advocate for greater health equity.
