ALPS & SVN Expand Joint Limb Preservation Efforts in 2026, Highlighting the Power of Multidisciplinary Team‑Based Care

4. May 2026

Anaheim, California, United States – May 4, 2026: The American Limb Preservation Society (ALPS) and the Society for Vascular Nursing (SVN) are proud to announce strengthened collaboration, building on their successful partnership first launched in 2024.

Since the collaboration began, ALPS and SVN have worked together to elevate the role of vascular nursing and advanced practice providers within limb preservation and to promote interdisciplinary education across vascular care, podiatry, and wound care.

Ramping up joint initiatives

In 2026, ALPS and SVN are ramping up joint initiatives and supporting shared educational goals to further advance team‑based, patient‑centered care.

“Vascular nurses and advanced practice nurses play a critical role in limb preservation across a wide range of healthcare settings,” said Karen Bauer, Immediate Past President of the Society for Vascular Nursing. “Through our continued collaboration with ALPS, we are strengthening seamless, team‑based vascular care and amplifying the voice and impact of vascular nursing. Together, we are focused on early recognition of PAD risk factors, patient education, prevention, and timely management to help reduce limb loss and improve quality of life for patients.”

“Growing and sustaining interdisciplinary teams has always been central to ALPS’s vision,” said Dr. Katharine McGinigle, ALPS board member. “Our continued collaboration with the Society for Vascular Nursing demonstrates what is possible when organizations align around a shared mission. By strengthening the integration of vascular nursing with podiatry and wound care, we are helping to create a more cohesive, patient‑centered model of care that leads to better outcomes.”

“Our collaboration has evolved into a trusted strategic partnership, and we’re just getting started. The next phase is about scale—advancing education, enabling multidisciplinary care, and delivering real, measurable impact in limb preservation worldwide,” shares CEO of ALPS, Georgia Krehbiel, MBA.

SVN President Ali Moran Baird, DNP, AGACNP, RN shares:

“Our ongoing partnership with the American Limb Preservation Society reflects a shared commitment to elevating the critical role of nurses and advanced practice providers in limb preservation. Through this collaboration, we are expanding educational opportunities, driving innovation in care delivery, and building a more unified, multidisciplinary approach to improving limb salvage and patient quality of life.”
