ALPS Founding President, David G. Armstrong, Delivers Opening Keynote in Turkey

Antalya, Turkey — Dr. David G. Armstrong, Founding President of the American Limb Preservation Society (ALPS) and Distinguished Professor of Surgery and Neurological Surgery at the University of Southern California, was invited to deliver the opening keynote at the 19th National & 7th International Wound Congress held at the Titanic Mardan Palace in Antalya, Turkey.

Hosted by the Wound Management Association of Turkey, the congress welcomed leading international experts to exchange knowledge on advanced wound care, tissue repair, and limb preservation.

Dr. Armstrong’s keynote, titled “The Power of Multidisciplinary Approach in Wound Management,” set the tone for a scientific program focused on collaborative and technology-enhanced solutions to limb-threatening conditions.

“It is a distinct honor to be back in Turkey with my friend Professor Uncu and this incredible community of clinicians,” said Dr. Armstrong. “Whether we are talking about high-tech sensors or high-touch surgical teams, our goal is universally simple: we are here to keep the world walking. This congress is a testament to the fact that when we work together across specialties, we don’t just heal wounds—we save lives.”Dr. Armstrong also contributed to the congress through additional invited lectures and leadership roles:

  • On December 5, he presented “Diabetic Foot Surgery to Prevent Amputations and Save Lives,” highlighting surgical techniques that proactively address diabetic foot complications.

  • On December 6, he spoke on “Artificial Intelligence and Digital Health Applications in Wound Monitoring and Treatment,” examining the role of emerging technologies in improving outcomes and access to care.

  • He also served as Session Chair for discussions on diagnostics, revascularization, and compression therapy, co-moderating with Congress President Professor Hakan Uncu.

Professor Uncu, who leads the Wound Management Association of Turkey, emphasized the importance of global collaboration in advancing patient care:

“We are delighted to welcome Professor Armstrong and distinguished colleagues from around the globe to Antalya,” said Dr. Uncu. “This meeting represents a vital bridge for sharing knowledge. ALPS Founding Secretary Ryan Crews, PhD, Honored with APHA Public Health Advocacy Award

ALPS is pleased to announce that Founding Secretary Ryan Crews, PhD, has been awarded the 2024–2025 John and Janet Carson Public Health Advocacy Award by the Foot and Ankle Health (FAH) Section of the American Public Health Association (APHA).
Dr. Crews received the award during the FAH Section’s annual dinner held in conjunction with the APHA Annual Meeting in Washington, DC, on November 3rd. The honor recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to podiatric public health education and advocacy.
