FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE. June 2025 — In a landmark move set to reshape the future of podiatric care and limb preservation worldwide, the American Limb Preservation Society (ALPS) and the International Federation of Podiatrists (FIP) have announced a formal collaboration aimed at expanding global access to podiatry education, advancing limb health, and bolstering the profession’s voice on the international stage.
This strategic alliance, cemented through a recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), unites two highly respected organizations with a shared vision: to reduce preventable limb loss and elevate the impact of podiatric care across borders.
“We are delighted to be affiliated with the like-minded Federation of International Podiatrists (FIP),” said Georgia Krehbiel, CEO of ALPS.
“Podiatrists are on the front lines of limb preservation, often identifying and managing foot complications before they escalate to limb-threatening conditions. Their expertise is essential in preventing amputations and improving outcomes for patients with diabetes and vascular disease. By working together with FIP, we can amplify our impact and help build a global standard in limb preservation that recognizes the indispensable role of podiatric medicine.
“FIP is proud to collaborate with ALPS in our shared commitment to advancing podiatry and preventing limb loss through education, advocacy, and global collaboration,” said Daniel Aharon Weisz, President of FIP. “Together, we can strengthen our profession, protect lives, and truly keep the world on its feet.”
A Multi-Faceted Collaboration
The MoU outlines a comprehensive scope of collaboration that includes:
- Joint webinars, workshops, and conferences to share expertise across continents.
- Co-created educational materials and professional development resources.
- Awareness campaigns to highlight the essential role of podiatry in limb health.
- Unified advocacy efforts to increase the recognition and impact of podiatric care globally.

Looking Ahead
This collaboration, effective for a two-year term from May 2025, does not involve financial commitments between the parties but emphasizes joint efforts, mutual support, and independent resourcing.
All joint initiatives will be mutually agreed upon, with appropriate branding and outreach guidelines observed.
As the global healthcare landscape continues to evolve, ALPS and FIP stand united in their commitment to preserving limbs, advancing education, and strengthening the profession of podiatry worldwide. [END]
