SAN DIEGO, June 21, 2023 — Tze-Woei Tan, MBBS, MPH, FACS and DFCon Course Director is the recipient of the 2023 Roger Pecoraro Award. This award recognizes a researcher who has made scientific contributions and demonstrates an untiring commitment to improving the understanding of the detection, treatment, and prevention of diabetic foot complications. Dr. Tan will deliver the Roger Pecoraro Award Lecture on Saturday, June 24 at ADA’s 83rd Scientific Sessions.
Currently an associate professor of surgery and co-director of the Limb Preservation Program at Keck School of Medicine of University of Southern California, Dr. Tan has dedicated his career to addressing health disparities in persons at risk of limb loss. He is currently funded by NIH on studies addressing health equity in people with diabetes-related foot complications.
Dr. Tan has extensive clinical experience in minimally-invasive procedures and open surgery to treat peripheral artery disease. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Tan has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed articles and 20 book chapters. He has received several awards from the American Diabetes Association including the 80th Scientific Sessions Presidents’ Select Abstract Presentation Award and 2022 Early Career Abstract Award.
