DFCon 2024 Ends on a High Note With Unprecedented Engagement and Unwavering Commitment to Achieving the Best Patient Outcomes

The American Limb Preservation Society (ALPS) is pleased to announce the successful conclusion of the 24th Diabetic Foot Conference with a high level of attendance, insightful discussions, and an impressive showcase of the latest technological advancements in limb preservation. Held at the JM Marriott Anaheim, DFCon 2024 brought together clinicians, researchers, and advocates, all focused on transforming limb preservation care and preventing avoidable amputations.

This year’s conference was notable for its strong contributions from global partners, patient involvement, and new health equity initiatives. Through scientific sessions, panel debates and technology showcases, DFCon 2024 offered a platform for collaboration for stakeholders across the field of limb preservation. The conference addressed a range of important topics, from diabetic foot ulcer management and vascular interventions to artificial intelligence’s role in early diagnosis and treatment.

Prof. Dr. Alberto Piaggesi Receives Edward James Olmos Award

Each year at DFCon, ALPS gathers influential speakers and delivers outstanding scientific content related to limb preservation with a focus on diabetic feet. This three-day conference allows the best in their field to come together, learn from each other and delve into the most recent technological advancements.

“You have to understand every 20 seconds, somewhere around the world someone loses their leg because of diabetes. And so it is our mission is to push back the clock and eliminate preventable amputations,” Dr. Armstrong, ALPS Founding President explains.

DFCon2024 audience

The Edward James Olmos Award for Advocacy and Education in limb preservation was this year awarded to Prof. Dr. Alberto Piaggesi, Director of the Diabetic Foot Section at the University of Pisa, Italy. Prof. Piaggesi is celebrated for his pioneering work in diabetic foot care, including developing integrated care models that improve patient outcomes and education. Through initiatives like the Diabetic Foot Valley project, he has fostered collaboration among healthcare providers, advancing diabetic foot care practices regionally and internationally.
