ALPS Announces DFUpdate 2025 in San Antonio – Registration Now Open

22. August 2025

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

San Antonio, TX — The American Limb Preservation Society (ALPS) is proud to announce the return of a landmark meeting in diabetic foot care: DFUpdate 2025 – Diabetic Foot Update, taking place December 6–7, 2025, at UT Health San Antonio.

Revived after a 23-year legacy under the visionary leadership of Professor Lawrence B. Harkless, DFUpdate is back — honoring the spirit of the original while forging a bold new path focused on interdisciplinary innovation and transformative care.

Hosted by ALPS, DFUpdate 2025 centers its program around the Charcot foot, one of the most complex and often under-recognized complications of diabetes.

Carry the Torch

In a powerful convergence of timing and tribute, this event also marks the 200th birthday of Professor Jean-Martin Charcot, whose name defines the condition and whose legacy of neurological discovery continues to influence modern medicine.

“We are very proud to help lead the way in putting the spotlight on this under-recognized and complex challenge in limb preservation,” said Georgia Krehbiel, MBA, CEO of ALPS. “It is a great honor to help carry the torch and bring DFUpdate into a new era.”

By integrating DFUpdate into it’s expanding portfolio of global educational initiatives, ALPS continues its mission of advancing multidisciplinary collaboration, education, and innovation in limb preservation.

Krehbiel added:

“For ALPS, this is yet another example of how we continue to scale with purpose. Each new program we adopt is not only a way to grow, but a way to deliver meaningful impact for patients, clinicians, and the entire limb preservation community.”

With DFUpdate, ALPS reaffirms its role as a leader in global education for diabetic foot and limb preservation, building bridges across specialties and driving solutions to prevent amputations worldwide.

Dr. Lee C. Rogers, Co-Chair of DFUpdate 2025 and Professor and Chief of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery at UT Health San Antonio, nationally recognized leader in diabetic foot care, Charcot neuroarthropathy, and interdisciplinary limb preservation, shares:

“Our scientific program is designed to challenge clinical assumptions, elevate the dialogue, and connect specialties across the continuum of care. We are shaping the future of limb preservation, one conversation and one collaboration at a time.”

Dr. Rogers is joined by Dr. Lawrence Lavery, co-chair, and Dr. Robert Frykberg, honorary chair—both long-standing leaders in diabetic foot care and research.

Georgia Krehbiel continues:

“We fully expect the conference to be a powerful example of how we’re driving impact limb preservation through education, collaboration, and action and we look forward to seeing the event unfold.”

DFUpdate 2025 is now open for registration and welcomes podiatrists, vascular surgeons, endocrinologists, nurses, orthotists, physical therapists, researchers, and other allied professionals who are committed to eliminating preventable amputations and interested in the Charcot foot.
