Dr. Armstrong’s address transcended the clinical domain as he eloquently drew a poignant parallel between the fires in pre-Olympic Los Angeles and those in post-Olympic Paris several years ago. His narrative intertwined the resilience of these cities with the ongoing global fight against diabetes-related amputations. “The story of two cities, two fires, and two futures reflects the urgency of our shared mission in healthcare and our responsibility to protect lives and livelihoods across the globe,” said Armstrong.
The Journées Cicatrisations 2025, hosted by the Société Française et Francophone de Plaies et Cicatrisations (SFFPC), attracted thousands of participants from around the world, highlighting multidisciplinary innovations in wound care. The conference underscored the importance of collaboration across specialties to advance patient care in wound healing and limb preservation.

Dr. Armstrong is a world-renowned podiatric surgeon, scholar, and advocate dedicated to diabetic limb preservation. He is the Founding President of ALPS and leads the NSF-funded Center to Stream Healthcare in Place (C2SHiP) at the University of Southern California, focusing on innovations in wearable health technology and interdisciplinary care to end preventable amputations worldwide.
