Dr. David G. Armstrong Named 2025 Global PAD Patient Champion

The American Limb Preservation Society (ALPS) is proud to announce that Dr. David G. Armstrong has been awarded the Global Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) Patient Champion Award 2025 — a distinction uniquely nominated by patients themselves.

Dr. Armstrong, Distinguished Professor of Surgery at the University of Southern California (USC) and Founding President of ALPS, has spent his career advancing care for PAD patients and preventing unnecessary amputations. As Director of the Southwestern Academic Limb Salvage Alliance (SALSA), his work has directly impacted limb preservation practices across the globe.

This award recognizes not only his clinical leadership but also his unwavering commitment to patient advocacy, health equity, and education. His efforts have bridged critical gaps in care, empowered communities, and helped establish a unified, patient-centered approach to PAD diagnosis and treatment.

Notably, Dr. Armstrong has championed the inclusion of underserved populations in PAD care, often traveling globally to raise awareness and improve access to advanced therapies. His collaborative work has built support networks for patients and fostered cross-border partnerships in limb preservation.

The 2025 award certificate honors his work, citing:

“Your dedication to connecting specialists across borders has created a unified approach to PAD care that has saved countless limbs and given voice to patients often unheard in our healthcare system.”
