Top Doctors Recognized by Houstonia Magazine: ALPS Founding Members Shine in Prestigious List

In a resounding testament to their outstanding contributions to the field of limb preservation and wound care, two founding members of the American Limb Preservation Society (ALPS) have been recognized as Top Doctors in the esteemed Houstonia Magazine. Dr. Brian Lepow, DPM, DABPM, Founding Treasurer of ALPS, was acknowledged as a Top Podiatrist, while Dr. Joseph L. Mills, MD, FACS, Founding Clinical Chair of ALPS, secured his place as a Top Vascular Surgeon in Houston.

The Houstonia Magazine’s 11th Annual List celebrates the best physicians in the region and is a collaboration with DataJoe Research, ensuring a rigorous and comprehensive selection process. With over 15,000 board-certified doctors in the Houston area, the list highlights excellence across various medical specialties, from cardiology and neurology to geriatric and family medicine.

Dr. Brian Lepow, Chief of Podiatry & Director of Clinical Operations at HOPE Vascular & Podiatry in Houston, received acclaim for his unwavering commitment to podiatric excellence. His leadership and clinical prowess in the field have set a benchmark for podiatrists across the region.

Dr. Joseph L. Mills, MD, FACS, Founding Clinical Chair of ALPS and a distinguished figure at Baylor College of Medicine, was recognized for his exceptional work in vascular surgery. As Professor and Chief of the Division of Vascular Surgery & Endovascular Therapy, Dr. Mills holds the John W. “Jack” Reid, M.D., ’43 and Josephine L. Reid Endowed Professorship in Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine. Additionally, he serves as the Program Director for the Vascular Surgery Integrated Residency and is the Medical Director of the Diabetic Foot and Wound Care Center at Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center.

Adding to the celebration, Dr. Jeffrey Alan Ross, D.P.M, M.D., a previous DFCon (Diabetic Foot Conference) faculty and speaker, also earned the title of Top Podiatrist, further highlighting the caliber of talent associated with ALPS.

Mightily contributing to the success of ALPS, Dr. Joseph L. Mills, a key leader of the organization, and indeed the entire BCM STEP (Save The Extremity Program) vascular surgery group, were also recognized in the Houstonia Magazine’s Top Doctors list.
